Sonia Kashuk Eye on Shimmer Neutral – it’s finally here and I’m so excited

sonia kashuk eye on shimmer neutral review and swatches

It’s finally here. I saw it at Target today while buying a workout shirt. I’ve been looking at Target about 3 times a week.

Now for the review:

I’m very pleasantly surprised with this product. I’m very picky about my eyeshadows and have returned almost all shadows I’ve bought. The only ones I’ve kept thus far are my beloved Inglot shadows, and my one Pop Beauty Pop Portfolio .

These have a silky and creamy feel. A long time ago I wasn’t crazy about some of the less creamy less pigmented SK shadows. I remember the shadows to be more dusty and less pigmented, including ingredients I didn’t love, such as calcium oxide, which I think made it sort of chunky and less creamy, and may have had a low irritation concern for some sensitive eyes (like mine). Now however, the calcium oxide is gone, and dimethicone is the second ingredient, which would explain why the shadows are so creamy and velvety. Other things like silica and nylon probably also contribute to the silkiness of the shadows.

There is a bit of fallout with these shadows, but I always thought there was with Urban Decay as well, and these shadows, the Sonia Kashuk ones, don’t hang as heavily on my eyelids.

This is your SK brand UD Naked Palette. The colors as strong, as seen from above, with no primer. Tap them on for a strong color.

Gold on the bottom lid. Second palest champagne shimmer all over base. Slate grey, next to black, on outer corner, Palest champagne on highlight area (above crease).

Best of Summer from Allure: GOLDEN EYES AND CHEEKS Julianne Hough

I was going to jump right into my fall makeup series but when I saw the Best of Summer from Allure online magazine, I had to insert another summer series, this one based on celebrity looks.

Paula’s Choice Ultralight Resist Antioxidant Serum – a MUST in my book. My skin was freaking out without this. This went all over my face and under my eyes.

Sonia Kashuk Ultra Luxe Lipgloss in Coral.

Tarte Cheek Stain in Loving.

My base after skincare was Tarte TM Agent 06 and Maracuja Creaseless Concealer, powdered lightly with Paula’s Choice Pressed Powder and the massive Real Techniques powder brush.

Allure magazine said strong brows were a must to ground a golden look so I used Sonia Kashuk Arch Alert Brow Palette – an incredible tool to both shape and set your brows. Bronzer went on outer temples and outside/top of cheeks.

My Real Techniques Brushes – so versatile.

I used two Inglot Eyeshadow for this look, but one was the hero – I even used it as a highlighter (I used the contour brush to use it as a highlighter). The bright angel gold eyeshadow below which is a staple color for me. I put the gold on the inner apple of cheeks, across them middle of my forehead, and all over the lid up to the brow bone, and used a brow brush to apply it to the inner corner of my eyes, including the bottom lid.

The pale champagne pink in the upper left corner, I applied with my finger to the outer above-the-crease-area of my lid – a light blush kind of effect.

How could I have forgotten to include my favorite mascara? Paula’s Choice Great Big Lashes. I will be reviewing this mascara in the next week along with a lineup of other mascaras. But it missed the photoshoot.

Another staple product that missed the photoshoot was one of my NYX Retractable pencils in bronze. As with many looks, I applied this to the outer half of my top lashline and the outer third of my bottom lash line.

Wouldn’t believe how many products a “simple” look takes!

Sometimes you just need to rock a little Sonia Kashuk lip sheer in Fuschia

Really surprised looking at these pictures. Looks like my photography and and lighting on my original post did not do this lip sheer in Fuschia by Sonia Kashuk justice!

Yes, I’m wearing a seatbelt. I was driving. It’s when I get the best natural lighting. (I’m in the passenger seat).

It was the perfect color for errands and shopping about the town with Nate.

Monday Morning Makeup Inspiration – A Kiss On the Cheek

After an exhausting gym workout, I’m inspired by this lip and cheek palette and these fresh colorful looks from Sonia’s blog.

Photo all credit and copyright Sonia Kashuk Beauty.

I love all these looks. What strikes me is the toned down eye makeup, letting the cheek and lips, and especially the blush on the cheeks, be the hero. Also I love that all of these women are so different but so individually beautiful. Clearly this palette is for anyone!

What else makes this $14.99 palette a great idea for yourself or a friend? BerryFlux Vita! What is BerryFlux Vita? Apparently a secret formula by Sonia Kashuk beauty to “increase Hyaluronic acid content and moisturize skin.” What a great bonus! Even though I believe you should have a consistent skincare routine to make sure you are taking excellent care of your skin, I love cosmetics that include healthy ingredients because you’re using them anyway, and this challenges my experience that “skincare makeup is expensive.”

What’s on your wishlist?

This week we have some reviews of some very budget-friendly and high performance products coming up, inspired by the fact that I’m low on cash and out of mascara, and the search to find an eyeliner that doesn’t print, so keep in touch!

Happy Monday!

Glisten Away with Sonia Kashuk bronzer blush duo and Cream Blush Undetectable

sonia kashuk undetectable bronzer cream sonia kashuk undetectable bronzer cream and glisten bronzer blush duo  sonia kashuk undetectable bronzer cream  sonia kashuk bronzer blush duo in Glisten

I ordered these online with my Target debit card – 5% off and FREE shipping no matter how small your purchase is.

(Nate and I get a lot of stuff online. We get so many packages Nate thinks the UPS man has a crush on me. He’s scared of Holly, but he honks and waves from his car. Nate says he will have to stay home to keep an eye on me. I said with Holly he need not worry about me – she throws herself against the door barking every time she sees him.)

All that aside, I was pretty happy when my Target box arrived in the mail. This is Sonia Kashuk stuff, so I thought I would be happy. But I didn’t know I would be this happy.

To start with, the Glisten blush in the duo is just the most perfect color I’ve ever tried. Up until the day I got this, I’ve been wearing a Tarte Cheek Stain either in Tipsy (a coral) or Loving (a mauvey-tannish color). They’re perfect for some looks, but if I’m not careful they can look a little sad or something. But Glisten is my perfect blush. It’s happy. It’s cheerful It’s glowy. It’s the perfect pink with just a touch of warmth. And with a sweep of my kabuki brush I can add a touch of bronzer and I just look glowing all day long.

I wear the cream bronzer only when I’m wearing a different blush. It is also really fun to wear and easy to apply with a dense brush. I use my contour brush or my stippling brush from Real Techniques.

My absolutely favorite lipstick ever – Sonia Kashuk Luxe Lipcolor Take Two

I had to repost this because I forgot a picture of me actually wearing it – agh! As you can see, it’s too much fun and a really gorgeous color. And here’s a rather silly picture of me wearing it.

When I want to tone it down, I use a balm underneath it and that helps it “spread” more. You can really get as much or little as you want out of this – it’s so buildable and gliding.

I used to wear Aveda lipstick. Now Aveda has some pretty amazing products and to measure up with an Aveda products is a pretty tall order. I thought when I was wearing Aveda lipstick that I was wearing the best.

That all changed when I slipped on my first Sonia Kashuk lipstick – the color was nude. It was sort of pale chocolate. It actually didn’t flatter my skin, but the way it felt! Much less drying than my Aveda lipstick.

I like her new formula – the Luxe Lipcolor, even better. The ones in the black containers. It’s creamy, it’s very light but buildable, it doesn’t feel like you have a lot of lipstick on when you wear it, but your lips have a comfortable cushy feel to them.

My standard for lipsticks and glosses and balms: squishy cushiness. Haha! It’s a penned term. OK, maybe just cushiness. Your lips shouldn’t stick together when you press them together, they should be able to glide, they should have a slightly cushy feel, they should feel hydrated.

Here is a quote from her website to give you even more reasons to love Sonia Kashuk Luxe Lipcolor:

“The paraben and fragrance-free formula contains Brown Seaweed Extract, a marine botanical rich in fatty acids that preserves skins elasticity, Ceramide 2 and Palmitoyl Peptide to visibly reduce the appearance of wrinkles…”

I am unfortunate enough to own only one of these lipsticks: pink punch. But what a color it is! Nate loves it. 🙂 (You look so cute!)

Nate doesn’t notice when my lips don’t match my sweater. What a sweet guy. He just says, “you are so pretty!”

Oh for $9.99 I think I’ll get more.

Oh, by the way! is doing a huge GIVEAWAY! $100 bag giveaway full of great brands.
