I would not be a good friend if I did not tell you shoppers and skincare and makeup enthusiasts about my Beautylish experience, especially since I nearly “fell through the floor,” when I found out Beautylish now carries Inglot.

I’ll let the pictures do the talking.

is beautylish a good company

have you ever ordered from beautylish

I consider this little block of four colors to be one of the most beautiful things I own. It is holding minimalist art in your hand and I cherish it.

You mean Beautylish actually carries Inglot now??? Woohoo!

inglot freedom system eyeshadow

If any of you have ever tried to use the website, you know it sucks. There are no swatches, the image quality of the shadows is terrible, not to mention tiny, with misleading color, and even the act of trying to add an item to your cart feels archaic. But we love the Inglot shadows, and especially the Freedom System, so we put up with the guessing game that is buying Inglot shadows in the US.

All that has changed with Beautylish.

Ahh the clarity!

Every single color is swatched for you on light and dark skin, not to mention the high resolution pixel perfect clear image of true to shade eyeshadow square itself.

Oh the possibilities! A purple and gold quad with black?

Maybe a purple and silvery-white quad with a navy-black instead.

inglot freedom system eyeshadow

Now you can actually see what you are ordering, create wishlists, see the product, etc.

This is the best thing that’s ever happened to me! (Haha, not quite, but you get the point. I’m excited about + Inglot). Beautylish now has a loyal customer. Maybe I will always order from, so I can throw “just a $6 shadow” in my cart. Never before has that been possible. No, Inglotcosmetics had a $50 order minimum. Who wants to buy $50 of eyeshadow all at once? Not me. Beautylish’s low free shipping requirement means you can buy exactly enough for a quad – four shadows and a magnet quad, and get free shipping. It also means you can add a single Inglot product to a cart full of, say, foundation or skincare products, and also get free shipping.

I love shopping.

Best of Summer from Allure: GOLDEN EYES AND CHEEKS Julianne Hough

I was going to jump right into my fall makeup series but when I saw the Best of Summer from Allure online magazine, I had to insert another summer series, this one based on celebrity looks.

Paula’s Choice Ultralight Resist Antioxidant Serum – a MUST in my book. My skin was freaking out without this. This went all over my face and under my eyes.

My base after skincare was Tarte TM Agent 06 and Maracuja Creaseless Concealer, powdered lightly with Paula’s Choice Pressed Powder and the massive Real Techniques powder brush.

Allure magazine said strong brows were a must to ground a golden look so I used Sonia Kashuk Arch Alert Brow Palette – an incredible tool to both shape and set your brows. Bronzer went on outer temples and outside/top of cheeks.

My Real Techniques Brushes – so versatile.

DSC08503 (1024x768)

I used two Inglot Eyeshadow for this look, but one was the hero – I even used it as a highlighter (I used the contour brush to use it as a highlighter). The bright angel gold eyeshadow below which is a staple color for me. I put the gold on the inner apple of cheeks, across them middle of my forehead, and all over the lid up to the brow bone, and used a brow brush to apply it to the inner corner of my eyes, including the bottom lid.

The pale champagne pink in the upper left corner, I applied with my finger to the outer above-the-crease-area of my lid – a light blush kind of effect.

DSC08504 (1024x768)

How could I have forgotten to include my favorite mascara? Paula’s Choice Great Big Lashes. I will be reviewing this mascara in the next week along with a lineup of other mascaras. But it missed the photoshoot.

Another staple product that missed the photoshoot was one of my NYX Retractable pencils in bronze. As with many looks, I applied this to the outer half of my top lashline and the outer third of my bottom lash line.

Wouldn’t believe how many products a “simple” look takes!

Monday Morning Makeup Inspiration – Inglot Purpley Silvers

My new Inglot Quad, which consists of 434, 402, 495, and 397, inspired this silvery-purple look. Check out video for step by step tutorial.

Here are the colors I reference, clockwise starting from top left of quad:

inglot 501, 434, 402, 495.

Inglot 397 and 329. I broke up my quad to arrange the colors with the colors I thought they looked best with. So the 3 new purples went with my grey, and the new pink went with the brown.

Products used:
Paula’s Choice barely there sheer matte tint,
Sonia Kashuk Mineral Concealer
Sonia Kashuk Arch Alert Brow Kit (love this kit!)
Tarte cheek stain in Loving
Inglot 397, Inglot 501, Inglot 434, Inglot 329, in that order (pink, silver, purple-silver, brown).
Yes to Carrots Berry Lip Butter
Sonia Kashuk Pink Punch Luxe Lipstick

Inglot Color Fail

UPDATE: I actually use two of these eyeshadows, the grey and the brown, almost every day now, such as in this tutorial. So I just needed to figure out how to use them. The following post is how I originally felt when I opened the box and tried them on.

I LOVE my inglot eyeshadows. Still love the same four I got for an early Christmas present and still wear them every day and various fun combinations. They still haven’t failed me and I still think they’re the easiest to apply and have the most pigmented beautiful sparkly colors. See my Inglot Quad here.

I wear them with foundation only, no primer. And it works really well.

So I was excited to spend my Christmas money on some more Inglot shadows. Really I was just trying to get some basics. A really dark contour brown, a light gold, which would be a good basic every day if I could find the right shade, and then a combination I’ve tried in the past that I liked – silver and navy.

But what was I thinking? The gold is too yellow, the brown is too green, the grey is too grey (I was going for silver) and the blue is way too primary and too much like my eyes. 😦 It doesn’t help that Inglot’s website is ridiculous for picking out colors. Or that I have unusual skin that just doesn’t look good in many of the colors that look good on many bloggers out there, whose blogs I read to try to get color inspiration.

UD half baked is my perfect gold, and twice baked is my perfect brown. (They’re too pricey for me though). So I’ve since emailed inglot and asked them their versions of these colors.

What a waste of Christmas money! Now I have to decide, swap them, blend them (I can get a pretty good brown blending new brown with bronze-red from original four, but it’s so much work), ….and I guess those are my only two choices. Due to Inglot’s return policy, I’m stuck.

I still love you though, Inglot. But I wish I could at least get store credit…even with a restocking fee. Or if you answer my customer service email about color, then I’ll be a little happier. Or if you get better pictures on your website. Or open a chain near Harrisburg. Any of the above would help.

Foundation Comparison, Lancome, Nuance, Tarte and Inglot

True story: I can tell you in almost every picture taken of me in the past 3 years what I was wearing on my skin.

🙂 This post makes me happy, because I’ve tried a few foundations here and there, as well as tinted moisturizers. And didn’t think there was anything affordable out there for me.

So here’s my comparison of 4 products: Tarte tinted moisturizer alone, Lancôme Idol Tient, Nuance and Inglot, which Nate surprised me with and I did a pretty good of picking the color on the website. How does this work you ask? Well I said I’d like a sample of Inglot YSM 41 and Nate surprised me with the whole bottle, and the shade seems to match. Score!

Tarte TM alone:

glowy, but a little shiny and uneven, and this is one of the best pictures of this product I have

Lancôme Tient Idol

Feel like this isn’t the best picture of the Lancôme, but I’ve taken many. I guess the coverage is so-so.

Nuance – really radiant finish. This one was so fun to put on but unfortunately really irritated my skin and made it break out, despite lots of botanicals (ok so I think I’m beginning to realize that just because something has botanicals doesn’t mean it’s the best). I REALLY wanted to love this stuff. It’s nearby. It’s pretty. It’s coverage is good. It’s only $15, and you can get it at CVS, which takes returns. But like I said, it makes me break out, and after comparing it to all the other foundations, I decided maybe it looked a little fake, like plasticy.

Nuance Flawless Finish

Inglot YSM Foundation

Matte and even and smooth, feels really good on the skin as well.

Sorry not a great picture on the Lancôme but I kept having bad luck with my shots.

At first when I tried the Inglot, I didn’t think I liked it. It was much more matte than anything I’d tried, but after using it for a few days and comparing pictures, I realized that I really liked this, and it suited me well. After all, I have an oily complexion, so I don’t need more “radiance.” Inglot uses a micro-sphere technology that absorbs oil and creates a matte finish that I can testify wears really well.

I don’t know about you but I’m really liking my $15 Inglot foundation. What a relief to pay that much compared to what I would pay for Lancôme! Or even if I had to try to use my TM as a foundation (have to build a lot, and I feel like I’m wasting the product).

Ingredients and Links below. When I asked CVS for the ingredients I got this letter in the mail weeks later, marked confidential. I hope that doesn’t mean I’m not supposed to post it. But I hope this saves someone some trouble.

Lancome Tient Idole

(Thanks makeup alley! oh and I’ve linked to Nordstrom because it’s free shipping and free returns at all times – how much better can it get?)

Inglot YSM Cream Foundation

(Thanks Inglot Customer Service!)

There is nothing in the YSM Cream Foundation (and I had to look up every product separately on Cosmeticscop website) but slip agents, conditioners, minerals, and peach juice. My skin does not get irritated from it or break out, which is weird because it really broke out with the Nuance stuff.

Colors added by request: The Tarte Tinted Moisturizer is Agent 06. The Lancôme Idole is 210 Buff N. The Nuance is (I think) Light Warm. And the Inglot is YSM 41.

Revlon Cream Illuminance – a cream shadow

Revlon Illuminance Creme Shadow - too mushy

These are some cream shadows I tried awhile ago. I was excited to try a cream shadow that was not quite so expensive. While the products themselves looked so pretty in the pan, I found them to be quite heavy and jelly-like. And I had difficulty blending them because they just pushed each other around. They also never seemed to dry, so I felt like I had wet eyelids.

Here is a comparison to Inglot (which are powder). I like the full even smooth coverage. I liked Tarte cream eye shadows compared to Revlon, and Inglot powder shadows better then both. Inglot post here.

My First Inglot Eyeshadows Freedom System

The pictures and video pretty much say it all. I think you can tell I am pretty happy with these eyeshadows, and for me (having tried UD, MAC, Tarte, L’Oreal HIP, Revlon creams, Stila, Smashbox, Nuance and many more, that’s saying a lot). You said, “Try Inglot,” and I did, and I am not disappointed. Thanks!

In the picture directly above I am wearing the orange color and the brown color as a light contour. Great pigment, lovely soft sparkle (not chunky). Very smooth, almost creamy, but not heavy like a cream shadow. You don’t have to build a lot to get color. A lot less than the one MAC bitter that I have (which I still like, but I do think these are better).

I love the magnetic palette cover!

pans contain: .09-.11 oz depending on which kind you get. I guess they are different weights.

Mac pro palette pans contain .05 oz. So you’re getting almost twice as much product with Inglot for only $6 (as opposed to $12).

Colors starting at top left and going clockwise are:
12 shine (the brown), 407 pearl (the fall orange), 08 shine (the pale shimmery),74 AMC (the fall purple-red),

Real Techniques Powder Blush or Real Techniques Travel Essentials.

I think the Travel Essentials brush would be great to introduce anyone to the set because they are full-sized brushes and there are videos to create complete looks on the Real Techniques website using just the set.

I’ve watched a lot of videos on their site and they actually use these brushes in a lot of their looks. I’ve noticed sometimes when a company will have a starter or travel or intro kit they are not the cream of the crop and they will not be the favorites of those who actually use the brushes. But this kit is one I’ve noticed Nick and Sam use a lot and it is only $18.00

The blush brush is only $9.00! This rivals brushes 3 times the price.

Travel Set: $18.00

Blush Brush: $18.00

How could I forget a tea gift?

Teavana has this amazing perfect tea maker for $19.95

or a gourmet tea  (white is my favorite and the health benefits are amazing!) for $10.00
